About the event
Prima Vocal Ensemble
Greg Birch - Piano
Ewa Salecka - Artistic Director, producer
Continuing to champion choral diversity, Prima Vocal Ensemble fresh from their recent stand out theatre performance now give their audiences an opportunity to experience their broad repertoire ‘up close and personal’ in an intimate setting in the heart of York.
Artistic Director Ewa Salecka has created a programme of heartfelt music that once again showcases the richness of the choral world from Handel to modern classics.
Contemporary composers such as Randall Thompson, René Clausen and Stephen Paulus are paired with celebrated female composers such as Elizabeth Alexander. And ahead of their 2024 New York City reunion, no Prima event would be complete without the uplifting music of the double Grammy winner Christopher Tin.
Captivating and often unexpected pieces from recent decades are perfectly balanced by a second half performance that takes familiar artists to the next level with moving and energetic arrangements of songs from Gershwin, Ellington and Freddie Mercury to current musical songs from the stage and big screen - with so much more in between!
Prima never shy from delivering an exciting mix of today’s choral sound, and with this selection of music very much from Ewa’s heart, you can be guaranteed a truly memorable evening.
